Invocation

This is Vincent Booker from Recon Unit 5, reporting in on the conflict between Squad General Luther from the Mining Divison, and new recruit JB.

According to members of the Mining Divison, the routine combat drills in for proper squad placement took place at about 14:00 Hours in the Sunken Earth crater.

According to Recruit JB’s file, he was previously noted as having not been blessed by any of the twelve. This was verified by the intelligence department. Recruit JB proceeded through the combat drills exceptionally well, even among those whose have had ample time to adjust to their blessings. His combat record was a series of uninterrupted victories, which reached General Luther’s attention.

Eyewitness reports describe Luther as ‘disgruntled’ with JB’s demeanor. He was evidently displeased that a new recruit, one without a blessing, was strutting his confidence throughout the rest of his compatriots. He saw fit to bring him down to size.

At about 17:00, a sparring match between Squad General Luther, and new recruit JB commenced. At about 17:17, Squad General Luther invoked his blessing, SALT OF THE EARTH.

As recorded, Squad General Luther’s physical power and physical defense increased tenfold. Recruit JB continued his sparring match, albeit to a much less degree of effectiveness.

At about 17:25, eyewitness reports Squad General Luther’s victory. He stood above new recruit JB. At 17:26, New Recruit JB uttered words that resembled a blessing invocation. The phrase was “Divine Attack, Starlight.”

Immediately, the evening sky became dark.

Despite reported light pollution, the sky became bright, decorated with thousands and thousands of stars.

As the world froze, no one’s eyes were on JB or General Luther. Invocations are supposed to be tied to the user’s body. It is inscribed upon their very bones fron birth, if they will or will not be blessed by the twelve. The gods themselves have blessed entire bloodlines.

These thoughts must have been running through everyone’s minds, at least, they were what was running through my own.

But before anyone could react, these ‘stars’ began to slowly fall. They were the size of bowling balls, yet they fell slowly like beautiful snowflakes.

The eggheads in the weapon development department said it resembled magnesium shells, or thermite bombs.

The damage was tremendous. It rained down, burning through metal, ore, minerals, and unfortunately, the other recruits.

JB’s act of invocation, if that is what it could be called, was not a controlled attack against Squad Leader Luther. Given the scale of the attack, it is difficult for me to even justify it as an appropriate combat response to the pressure of an invocation. Truthfully, the damage done to the Mining Depatment, and the colony as an extension, is too large to be ignored.

Squad Leader Luther is currently in critical condition from prolonged exposure to the Starlight.

JB is currently M.I.A., and the remainder of the recon department is on the lookout with the Enforcer division, and is currently being treated as a Level 9 threat.

More details to come,
